Community Involvement - Non-Profits Through print, Ambit Press supports several Cambridge non-profit organizations. We strive to deliver high-quality print projects to these groups either free of charge or at cost. The Margaret Fuller House "The Margaret Fuller Neighborhood House (MFNH) is located in Area IV, one of the most densely populated and diverse neighborhoods of Cambridge. The organization was founded is 1902 and is the 11th oldest settlement house in the United States. As a Settlement House for over a century, it has provided critical information and services to immigrants to successfully assimilate into the American culture. The facility was built in 1807 and is a designated National Historic Landmark. Margaret Fuller, a famed author, feminist, transcendentalist, and social critic was born in the house. Today the MFNH provides services to over 1,500 children, youth, families and individuals each year." Tutoring Plus "Tutoring Plus of Cambridge aims to support and encourage the academic, personal and social growth of children and youth in Cambridge through the use of volunteers and existing community resources. Today, Tutoring Plus serves 80-100 children through five tutoring and mentoring programs: a One-on-One Tutoring program, a Middle School Tutoring Center, a High School Tutoring program (two locations), Science Explorers Program, and an MCAS Math Preparation Program. All of our programs are staffed by Site Managers, Site Coordinators, and Volunteers. All programs are offered free of charge to all interested children and youth." Community Arts Center "Founded in 1932, the Community Art Center has established an excellent track record of youth development with a diverse population of under-resourced children and teens. The CAC is dedicated to propelling Area 4 youth to develop themselves artistically, academically, and socially. "Generations of families have passed through their classrooms to draw, write, dance, and learn photography, pottery, and video. During the most dangerous hours in a child's day, the Community Art Center offers not only safe care, but a vibrant, creative learning environment. The world that CAC children will inhabit demands citizens who are more flexible, inventive, and globally aware than ever before. The CAC is preparing them to be responsible citizens and to achieve personal and professional success." Kevin Youk’s Hits for Kids "Kevin Youkilis Hits for Kids is a charitable organization founded by Boston Red Sox infielder Kevin Youkilis, dedicated to rallying local and corporate support for charities and organizations focused on the health and wellbeing of children. Kevin Youkilis Hits for Kids teams up with existing community-based children's charities and medical research programs in New England (the heart of Red Sox Nation), and Cincinnati, where Kevin was born and raised." |
