Ambit Press is conveniently located in Kendall Square. Our close proximity to our customer base allows us
to make deliveries on foot when possible. For larger orders and deliveries outside of Kendall Square, we plan our routes to
minimize the duration of the trip as well as repeat visits to the same geographic location. We schedule deliveries during "reverse commute"
times to reduce idling time and we plan accordingly so that we drive a loop with no back-tracking. This works for us both economically
and environmentally as it keeps our trucks on the road for as little time as possible. We maintain all of our vehicles in proper working
order. Simple things such as under inflated tires or a poorly tuned engine can reduce vehicle mileage by 5 to 15%. We take care to perform
weekly checks on our vehicles and promptly fix any issues so that we get the best mileage and vehicle longevity.
In the future we would consider purchasing a diesel vehicle for deliveries. A diesel vehicle would last longer and would be more
efficient. A diesel vehicle also would allow us the new opportunity to use bio-diesel, fuel made from renewable resources.
